About

My name is Anne Ladyem McDivitt, and I am a doctoral candidate at George Mason University. My research and writing is on video games in the 1970s and 1980s, gender, and culture. I will be blogging both about my dissertation experience, as well as about video games and video game culture that I experience along the way. I received my BA and MA from the University of Central Florida in 2010 and 2013, with my thesis “I Play to Beat the Machine: Masculinity and the Video Game Industry in the United States.” My tentative dissertation title is “We Take Fun Seriously: The Creation of the VIdeo Game Industry in the United States.”

All of my opinions are my own and do not represent George Mason University or its Department of History and Art History.
