What a variety of topics we have here today on SAC OVA! Jared and I recently read through the light novel and manga of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, so we talk about the story, what we liked and didn’t like, and what we’re looking forward to seeing in the movie. After that, we move into the wild world of Pop Team Epic since some new episodes were released for April Fool’s Day. We get more references, more insanity, and MORE SHOUTA AOI! <3

This week, Jared and I reach into the grab bag, and we talk about several games that we played while he was visiting me for spring break! We talk about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S: Jougai Rantou!? Shuyaku Soudatsusen, Sailor Moon Super S: Fuwa Fuwa Panic, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, K-ON! Houkago (After School) Live! HD Ver., and Jared briefly talks about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and AL talks a bit about The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. Y’all, my mind is blown that the actual title of DKC2 is Diddy’s Kong Quest not Diddy Kong’s Quest. I have never realized this, and it’s been out for decades. I PLAYED IT SO MUCH AS A KID, and I never knew!!!
Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I get to chat about the newest entry in the Devil May Cry series, Devil May Cry 5. It has everything you could ever want–one liners, William Blake, the previz videos, dance sequences, super rad characters like Nico who deserve all the praise in the world (and not to be white washed), and super fun action that we all know and love from the series. We go full into the story, so spoilers abound!
Leave a CommentJared and I recorded for the very first time in person, and we decided to continue on this Resident Evil train since Jared had never played Resident Evil 4. I had to correct that!! So we talk about the story of the game, how Jared felt playing it 14 years after its release especially given the claims that this is one of the best games of all time, the development cycle and the surprises there, our thoughts on the innovations it made, and my kitties act up a lot in the background.
Leave a CommentIn a now annual tradition, Jared and I are doing another March Madness–this time, it’s the Persona Music Edition!! We debate which Persona song across the games is the best from the 64 that we gathered, and we scientifically decide the best Persona song to date.
Fill out your own bracket here.
Leave a CommentThe Resident Evil train continues on! This week, Jared and I played through all four routes of Resident Evil 2 remake, so we chat about RE 1.5, how Leon continues to be BDE around Ada, how the game is different from OG RE2, Mr. X scaring the crud out of me, and how Steve the zombie came to exist!
Leave a CommentIf you’re new to the podcast or have missed the many times we’ve discussed the wildness of the series on it in the past, you may not know how much we love this bonkers otome series. Now we’ve seen the release of the final fan disc of Code: Realize, and so Jared and I are here to tell you about how it all wraps up in ~Wintertide Miracles~. We get to celebrate Christmas on Valentine’s Day as we see the boys spend their first Christmases with Cardia, Sholmés pulling some weird sexist shit, Finis being a sass machine, a brand new route, and the implementation of triangle dates.
Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I are continuing our spooky theme as we continue a dive into the world of Resident Evil. While I’m working on the RE2 Remake, Jared decided he was going to play through REmake (while I watched), and now we have thoughts™ on it! I had previously played Remake (Jill route only), and Jared braved through both Jill and Beefy Chris routes. We talk about OG Resident Evil 1, the various releases, how it holds up, and what surprises Jared most about Resident Evil 1.
Leave a CommentJared and I are in the middle of a Resident Evil bonanza, and instead of watching the BIG GAME on Sunday, we decided to watch a CG Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil: Vendetta. Starring some series favorites such as rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy, beefy Chris Redfield, and the highly underutilized smarty pants Rebecca Chambers, Vendetta is a ridiculous wild ride of a film. We discuss the movie’s action and plot, how Leon is a sad boy, the fact that Chris gets beat up surprisingly, and how Resident Evil writers clearly have no idea what to do with a great character like Rebecca.
Leave a CommentThis week we get to talk about two of our potential topics in our podcast–it’s an anime AND a manga! I’ve recently started reading the manga for Wotakoi: Love is Hard for an Otaku, and Jared has been reading it for a while. I also watched the 2018 anime near the end of last year, so I bugged Jared until he watched it so we could finally talk about this series. It’s a bit of fresh air due to all of the adult protagonists, but it is also incredibly relatable because of how insanely nerdy it is. There are references all over the place, stupidly cute romance, and moments where Jared says, “oh that’s basically you.” He isn’t wrong. We also talk about the problems of anime adaptations for ongoing manga, and what the anime does right.
