This week, Jared and I are discussing some other games we wrapped up in December 2019 with The Outerworlds and Life is Strange 2: Episode 5. We talk about the methods we used to get through The Outworlds and the story about taking down capitalism. Second, we talk about the last chapter of Life is Strange 2, and how the wolf brothers’ story wraps up.

What better way to start a new year than by talking about my game of the year from 2019!?! So this week, Jared and I discuss the story of the game, which moments stood out, the changes that were made, how Rean has taken up the thankless profession of teaching, and where we think ToCS 4 and beyond might go.
Leave a CommentWe’re back with another year of games and life under the belt, for better or for worse. I’ve played what could be considered a decent amount of games this year, and now I get to rank them! My list is, of course, the end all be all of games of the year lists. I will say, the games that I put as my top 4 could easily be GOTY. They’re all that damn good. So let’s get started with this GOTY train!1Also, be sure to check out Jared’s list here, and the SAC OVA podcast here.

Subtle art there, y’all. Totally not Harrison Ford. Anyway, we’re here with our annual holiday podcast, and this year we are playing a game that takes place around Christmas. We played Snatcher, which is one of Hideo Kojima‘s non-Metal Gear games. We discuss how it’s a copy/paste job of Blade Runner, what parts of it are really gross and bad, how the OST is actually boss, and I just suffer. A lot.
This week, Jared and I are looking to the future to talk about what will be coming out in the world of video games and anime in 2020. *Disclaimer–as always, this was recorded before the Game Awards, so this doesn’t include any content announced there.
Leave a CommentIt’s the end of a decade! Jared and I decided to break down our favorite games from the 2010s. We start with some honorable mentions, talk about our personal top 10s (in no particular order), then we rank the ones we had that overlapped. There have been some dang good video games this decade, y’all!
Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I decided to have a mixed medium podcast. First, we played through the definitely not online co-op game, Old Man’s Journey. We moved a bunch of platforms, yelled at sheep and the old man, and got on several boats while trying to uncover the story. Second, we watched the live action adaptation film of Hyouka, and we discuss how it could easily be mistaken for a horror film.
Leave a CommentThis week, we’re diving into some unconventional and experimental Final Fantasy games. Mystic Quest is one of the most maligned games in the franchise, so Jared and I talk about what works, what doesn’t, and why we want to hire the composer for it. Secondly, Jared breaks down Final Fantasy XIV and his 19 days with it, including full story spoilers and developmental history.
Leave a CommentWhat do you get when you combined a scared Mario Bro, a Toad who clearly shouldn’t have a driver’s license, a big spooky hotel, and a man made of goo with nerves of steel? A gosh darn good and fun video game! Jared and I played through Luigi’s Mansion 3, and we talk about how it looks graphically, our impressions on the different floors, why we liked it and what we didn’t like, and how that Symphony of the Night architect apparently got to design a hotel.
Leave a CommentThere was a lot of hype surrounding this game when it came out a few weeks ago, and Jared and I finally got around to trying it. After two hours playing the game, Jared and I were entirely unimpressed. We break down the story, the issues, and why we feel the way we do about this very odd dating simulator commercial.
