This week, Jared and I got to experience the finally localized Like a Dragon: Ishin!, a Yakuza story set in 19th century Japan. We talk about the fantastic localization, how much history they’re able to weave in to the story, singing about fighting sakura for the 15th time, and how this compares to mainline Yakuza/LAD games.

This week, Jared and I talk about the reboot of Saints Row, and we see how Jared felt about the series being rebooted after the wacky shenanigans of Saints Row IV, the story, why it’s stupid to name a game the same thing as previous games, the rocky launch, and what’s in the future for Saints Row.
Leave a CommentSince Valentine’s Day was this week, Jared and I decided to talk about Lover Pretend, an otome game where you fall in love with dudes as you work on a movie set trying to find out who your dad is. We talk about the awkward moments, some of the great stuff this game does, and why the last route just shouldn’t exist.

Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I talk about Bustafellows, a game I started in 2021, but I wasn’t able to finish for a few reasons. This time, I completed it, and so we chat about the dudes, found family, the wild ass story, and how it became a top tier otome game on my list.

Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I chat about an otome game I played last year, and we discuss how they fumbled what could have been a cool plot device, why some of the datables were insufferable, why eight dudes is too many dudes, and whether or not the big finale actually mattered at all.
Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I return to the live action Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan series, and we see Rohan go stir crazy during the Covid-19 pandemic, play some rock-paper-scissors, adopt a dog, and Jared and I ask one very important question about something Rohan does or does not do.
Leave a CommentI am legitimately so happy about how amazing my top games were. There are two themes I noticed with my list: Square Enix had a good year, and we had a matchup in the top half of my GOTY list that is reminiscent of the 2019 list. I won’t even lie to you all. My top three shuffled around A LOT while I was finishing up this list, and I struggled so hard to pick which one got the top slot. After a lot of deliberation, listening to podcasts, and suffering, I finally went with the list we have here. That being said, all three of them are really phenomenal games, and I was really impressed with the games on my list this year…which it is worth noting that I finally broke my rule of 7 and have a list of 10 this year. :O
Without further ado…let’s GOTY!
