This week, Jared and I are discussing video game reviews and whether they’re really useful in 2022. We talk about review aggregate websites and the negatives that come with those for the industry, how fandoms weaponize reviews, and how they’ve changed throughout the years, including questioning how useful one paragraph reviews actually were back in the day.

This week, Jared and I are talking about an infamous game that…actually isn’t bad? We played through the first Shenmue game, and we talk about the development, the story, the forklifts, Tom the Hot Dog Man, and our overall thoughts about this game.
Leave a CommentThis week, we chat about the Nintendo from February 9, 2022. We talk about the big announcements, the revival of some games from the 90s and early 2000s, the acknowledgement of the existence of the Satellaview, and why I will go missing in September–and I apologize in advance.

This week, we chat about Dairoku: Agents of Sakuratani, where you play as a new agent who helps out supernatural beings…and dates them. (And her boss) I talk about the routes, how much I enjoyed the side characters, and how the whole time I just kept wanting to get to the Semi route to see what would make him finally open his eyes.
Leave a CommentThis week, we have a few things to chat about. First up, we have the big news about another studio acquisition and reiterate how this is not a good direction for the video game industry. After that, Jared and I talk about The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening, and how Nintendo folks must’ve gotten high and watched Twin Peaks before making it. Finally, Jared talks about the new Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the new directions that game takes.
Leave a CommentThis week, Jared and I played the most recent SMT game, Shin Megami Tensei V. We chat about the difficulty, how the game does a lot of things right, how it does the story very wrong, and how we chose the best protagonist names of all time.

Leave a CommentIt sure has been a year again, eh? This was an interesting year in games, and there were some fantastic surprises, some important rereleases or remakes, and several games with really strong narratives.1 I feel like this list isn’t truly surprising given that it is ME we’re talking about here, but it was still a lot of fun to play some great and oftentimes impactful games in this dumpster fire of a year. Check out the podcast here and Jared’s write up here.
Anyway, let’s get this party started! There will be spoilers behind the cut!
