This week, we start down the path of playing through all of the Yakuza games! This is the first part of me experiencing the Yakuza games as Jared plays through them. We decided to start with Yakuza 0, and we discuss some of the goofy side events, the story itself, how tragic it is that Majima cut his hair, and how we went on a major quest to find all the sexy videos.

This week, we get to talk about a game that for years became a cautionary tale for digital delivery and game preservation. We played the rerelease/revival of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, so we talk about the legacy left behind by its delisting, our theories on why it was taken down, how it holds up compared to other Scott Pilgrim media, and our overall thoughts about the game after playing it together.

This week, we decided to take it easy and do a little ranking. Aqours had quite a year of releases in 2020, including a lot of fun new experimental songs. There was also a first single album from Saint Snow! So Jared and I are here to rank our top 10 songs of 2020 by Aqours and Saint Snow, which leads to some debate, some surprises, and lots of excitement.

What a combo this week! We’re still catching up with games we’ve played recently. First, we talk about our co-op adventures in beating people up and cooking with Streets of Rage 4 and Overcooked 2. Yes, we are still friends, and Mr. Love gets a shout out here. Jared then talks about Hitman 3, one of the first big games in 2021, and what he thought about the final game in the reboot trilogy.

We chat about last year’s Spiritfarer, a management game where you are tasked with ferrying spirits to the afterlife. We discuss all of the characters and the overall story as we piece together Stella’s adventure.

This week, we set out to make people mad. Jared and I decided to rank the Legend of Zelda games that we have played, and we break down what we like and don’t like about the various Zelda games that have come out in the last 35 years.

This week, Jared and I dive back into the world of Kong, as well as explore an alternate version of rural Kentucky. First, we played through DKC3, and we chat about how it differs from the other two and how it was the beginning of the collectathons. After that, we talk about Jared’s 2020 Game of the Year, Kentucky Route Zero, which I decided to play after hearing him sing its praises. We talk about magical realism, the overall story, what shocked us, anti-capitalism messages, and the way the gameplay and visuals shifted over the years.

In our first episode of 2021, Jared and I have a lot to talk about! This week, we chat about some games we played near the end of 2020. Jared talks about family with Fast and Furious: Crossroads. After that, he breaks down the new Miles Morales game and why you should have a spiderkitty in a backpack. Finally, I break down the latest Hyrule Warriors game, and I talk about why it was a big letdown for someone who is a huge fan of both Zelda and Musou.
